Indiana surprise billing and federal protections
The federal No Surprises Act protects Indiana patients from many out-of-network "surprise" bills for emergency care and certain in-network-facility services. Many states layer additional protections on top — Indiana has its own consumer protection mechanisms through the Indiana Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division.
If you received a surprise bill that violates the No Surprises Act, you have the right to dispute it through the federal Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) process, which is free for the patient. Counter Gameplan generates the exact letter you need, formatted and ready to send.
